The Poodle Puddle

Diet

*Remember, some Poodles can be very sensitive to food changes.

When introducing something new, start with very small amounts. As

long as there are no signs of diarrhea you can increase the amount

given. Sometimes your Poodle will have diarrhea from tiny amounts

of new food. A little diarrhea is ok but be sure to keep them hydrated

and do not give them large amounts of the new food. If your Poodle

experiences extreme diarrhea try giving them plain yogurt, pumpkin,

bismuth or acidophilus. Pedialyte will help to rehydrate your pup after a bad diarrhea episode.*

Snack Ideas

Try not to rely on fattening, unhealthy dog treats to satisfy your dog. To ensure your Poodle lives a long healthy life try some of these great snack ideas that our Poodle love!

Poodles love to munch on fresh carrots which are high in dietary fiber, vitamin A, C, K, B6 potassium, thiamin, niacin, folate and manganese.

Sliced Sweet Potatoes are a tasty dessert and contain; vitamin A, B6, dietary fiber, potassium, manganese and helps to aid in muscle development.

Apples are a sweet alternative providing fiber and vitamin C. Our poodles love apples and peanut butter.

Pumpkins (great for diarrhea relief) are high in vitamin A, C, E, B6, riboflavin, potassium, manganese, thiamin, niacin, folate and iron

Skinless, Boneless, Chicken Breast provide lots of protein, niacin, vitamin B6, selenium, and phosphorus. 100% Dehydrated Chicken Breast treats are available at select pets store; but it is best and probably cheaper to make your own.  Beware of some dehydrated chicken breasts being sold as "all natural" that are not.  If imported from another country, these products may not be all natural by our standards as they may use chemicals to dehydrate that are not good for your poodle.  Also, the chicken meat may be of a very low quality or chemically treated.

It's very easy to make your own chicken treats.  Buy boneless chicken on sale, boil it, cut it up into small pieces, then freeze it.  Offer it as treats.
